INTERSTELLAR FLOWER DELIVERY, 2022

“Who are the flowers for?” Heavily immersed in films taking place in outer space, the view of no gravity seemed to mirror my emotional state. Displaced, free, a vacuum and a void. I mapped 19 original poems about love, grief, creativity, and independence, each to a different image captured and shared via the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day Archives. Compiled into a chapbook resembling a perfume bottle and delivered with a vacuum-sealed dried flower arrangement—an ode to the ephemeral. Being able to comprehend the cycles of the universe is a gift, and I gave it to myself. And in spite of an instinct to preserve the past, I let it all float away.
